Florian Alojzy Dabrowski was a Polish composer and music teacher. Dabrowski studied music theory with Stefan Boleslaw Poradowski and piano with Edmund Rezler at the Municipal Conservatory in Bydgoszcz from 1930 to 1939 and graduated in composition in Poradowski’s class at the Poznan University of Music in 1948. In 1945 he founded a music school in Bydgoszcz, where he taught music theory until 1951. From 1951 to 1954, Dabrowski was a professor and rector at the Sopot Academy of Music, after which he taught music theory and composition at the Poznan Academy of Music. He was also vice president of the board of the Polish Composers’ Association from 1969 to 1975. He founded the Poznanska Wiosna contemporary music festival. He published columns and reviews in the music magazines Arkona, Gazeta Pomorska, Ilustrowany Kurier Codzienny, Nowy Tor, Pomorze, Ziemia Pomorska, Slowo Powszechne, Pro Sinfornica, Nurtbund Ruch Muzyczny and was one of the editors of the Res Facta series.
