Fano Omizzolo Œuvres Pour Violoncelle Et Piano Filippini Bacchetti - Tc870001 - Tactus

Il y aura toujours des compositeurs à découvrir. Voici deux Italiens, le premier de la génération d’un Malipiero, d’un Casella ou encore d’un Respighi, le second, de 30 ans son cadet, plus proche par la naissance d’un Dallapiccola. Guido Alberto Fano s’est d’abord fait connaitre pour ses talents de pianiste avant de poursuivre une longue carrière de pédagogue. Sa sonate en ré mineur pour violoncelle et piano, publiée en 1898 et qui lui a valu des prix de composition, en Italie et à Vienne, est sans aucun doute une œuvre intéressante de par ses qualités mélodiques et son caractère postromantique. Ses "Deux pièces pour violoncelle et piano" composées à des époques différentes, le sont aussi de style mais jamais cette musique ne flirte avec l’avant-garde de son temps. Quant à "Rimenbranze" pour piano seul, c’est l’œuvre d’un jeune homme doué qui connaissait par cœur son Grieg. Padouan comme Fano, Silvio Omizzolo n’appartient à aucune école. Sa "Sonate brève" de 1970 s’écoute avec un réel plaisir. Les interprètes défendent leurs compatriotes avec conviction. Alors, "Viva Italia ! ". (Yves Kerbiriou)

Two fantastic performers - Rocco Filippini and Andrea Bacchetti - here offer to us a compelling interpretation of rare works from the historical Italian Novecento by Guido Alberto Fano, pianist, composer, conductor and favorite pupil of Giuseppe Martucci, and by Silvio Omizzolo, esteemed pianist and composer appreciated by some greats such as Gian Francesco Malipiero, Luigi Dallapiccola and Giorgio Federico Ghedini. Both of them belong to that group of musicians that, together with the Cecilian movement and further to the Generation of the eighties concurred to the rebirth of the Italian instrumental music and diffusion of the European symphonic and chamber repertoire that in the early twentieth century still found it hard to receive the deserved attention. This chamber music CD gives us a perfect glimpse of a moment in history that still remains little known while revealing unsuspected musical gems.
