"K9+ONE" started as a collaboration of 9 composers and the musician Cristin Wildbolz. In 2000 she engaged an international group of artists to create new compositions for herself and her instrument. With "K9+ONE" a situation was established, in which the joining of the performer and the musical conceptionalist (the composer) is the center of attention thereby providing a new platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences. In 2005 the group of composers was expanded to the "NewComposerPool" of 18 members. Cristin Wildbolz chose exclusively composers who are familiar with the knowhow of improvisation as well as a catalogue of compositionally technical settings and procedures. She then carefully examined the proposals and the materials and in a next step further developed the concepts together with the composers. By doing so, a laboratory of improvisation and composed material was created, a constantly moving and developing music. All compositions have been composed for and dedicated to Cristin Wildbolz with the exception of "BEAST", which was written for Buell Neidlinger. CRISTIN WILDBOLZ - Since she graduated from the Sweelinck Conservatorium in 1996 she has enthusiastically worked with other musicians and artists in the fields of dance, theatre and film with the aim to investigate the intertwining, limiting and possibly overlapping effects of these disciplines. Beyond those interdisciplinary experiments she is devoted to new music and new compositional methods. Discovering and exploring composed New Music, in particular the impressions left from listening, have strongly influenced and determined the dimension and understanding of her perception of sound.
