Since its founding in 2001, CHala Cubana plays with musical styles. Swiss composers Stefan Aeby, François Ingold, Max Jendly, Mathieu Kyriakidis, Christophe Pochon and Claude Schneider delivered a stripped works to Cuban arranger Alexis Bosch, who had the task of tweaking Swiss compositions, cuban arrangements and interpretation. Thus, Son, Danzòn, Cha-Cha-Cha and Bembé become adoptive families of those parts of Switzerland. The result is a Latin-jazz "between fury and caresses", an unconventional music. The meeting of these two styles that nothing relates is exhilarating! It also reflects an extraordinary complicity that binds these musicians for over 10 years. This third album of CHala Cubana, La Ponina was recorded this spring in the studios of Buena Vista Social Club in Havana. The local friends joined their companions in the studio. The result is a lot of collaborations, arranged or spontaneous. Choirs, additional percussion, batà drums, incantations... throughout the 10 pieces that make up this new repertoire.
