The team is the star! The trio with the Brazilian pianist Malcolm Braff, the bass player Bänz Oester, and the drummer Samuel Rohrer, both from Switzerland, was founded in 2001. They have come together as a unit, with an intuitive understanding of each other, and have developed an independent, collective and authentic musical language, combining an abundance of vigour, an absolute joy in improvisation and a hymnic depth in a totally irresistible manner: Maximal Music. Working from the experience that, with the appropriate conditions, individual energy in music has the potential to produce something much greater, these three musicians create a framework which uncompromisingly places at its centre this fusion of the individual with the whole. This music manages without agreement or hierarchies, thus being able to devote itself totally to the moment. This collective concept is also reflected outwardly in the band name: BraffOesterRohrer.
