The idea to record the album Auf dem Wasser… was born during the Music Festival 2016 in Gdansk when, in the concert studio of Radio Gdansk, Artur Rozek and Anna Mikolon performed a number of German romantic songs, whose inspirations were water, night, darkness and aimless wanderings. In a short period of time they expanded their repertoire by recording further additional pieces. Thus, this album features studio recordings as well as “live” ones. It is worth mentioning, that the artist performing the vocal part specializes in chamber music interpretation, bring to these recordings a beautiful voice and phenomenal German elocution. These songs were written to poems mostly from the 18th and 19th century. We find in them romantic reflections of our relationship to nature, which becomes a starting point towards deep metaphysical thoughts. Thus, the night, can be longed and awaited as the one that brings alleviation, oblivion, freedom from concern, calm, beneficent sleep, complete nonentity, and eternal rest. It may also bring hope, dreams, romantic fulfilment, as well as the expression of our belief in God’s guardianship. However, it also has a grim, dangerous side with the feeling of helplessness, of a lost fight, aimless wanderings and despair...
