The creative output of Polish composers of the 20th century has a distinctive diversity in terms of style, sound, usage of instruments and the treatment done to the music forms. Shown by the works of Andrzej Cwojdzinski – a composer, who has been active during the last 50 years of Polish music’s history. The presented album is going to be an opportunity to learn about his chamber works and a special gift on the occasion of his 90th anniversary this year. Andrzej Cwojdzinski was born in Jaworzno, however since nearly the beginning his activities were tied to Kraków. To begin with, he graduated from the Public Music School where he finished his conducting and composition studies under the guidance of Artur Malawski. When he was still a student he became the conductor of Kraków Phillharmonics’ choir. He had similar jobs in Lódz, Koszalin and Lublin, where he additionally was employed as the director and artistic director at the local Philharmonics. Soon after he became the artistic director of the Polish Pianism Festival in Slupsk (1967), which he practiced for 23 years. He was also one of the initiators of Koszalin’s Organ Concerts. This made him known as an active organizer of music life in various parts of Poland. Cwojdzinski was also heavily involved as a teacher, being a professor at the Public Acting School in Kraków, Lublin’s Catholic University and at the Music Academy in Gdansk, where he taught a broad spectrum of talented musicians and composers. He’s a member of the Polish Composers Union.
