Dès l’entrée de son Dixit Dominus, Bart van Reyn a enclenché le mode "sport" entraînant son Il Gardellino dans un mouvement inaugural effréné qu’il relâche heureusement avec les deux arias suivants, fort bien chantées par Sophie Rennert et Deborah Cachet. Suivent les chœurs déclamatifs, portés par un Vlaams Radiochor fougueux et d’une formidable assurance vocale. Sublime Duetto des deux sopranos et un Gloria Patri final (pourtant si difficultueux) qui nous transporte dans les limbes rococo des tableaux de Le Brun. Extraordinaire partition magnifiée ici par un ensemble d’excellence. En complément du Dixit, l’éditeur nous invite à découvrir Le Pianto di Maria, cantate du vénitien Giovanni Battista Ferrandini qui fut attribué un temps à Haendel. Hautboïste à la cour de Bavière, Ferandini fit une brillante carrière de compositeur d’opéra. Il eut l’honneur dit-on d’être visité par les Mozarrt père et fils en 1771 à Padoue. L’œuvre, encadrée par le récit d’un narrateur, décrit les souffrances de Marie à la première personne, se lamentant sur la tombe de son Fils. Alternant récitatifs et arias, l’œuvre de Ferrandini use des effets dramatiques propre au genre de l’opéra : brusques contrastes dynamiques, dissonances et chromatismes. Parmi les divers airs et cantilènes, on retiendra l’émouvante aria Sventurati miei sospiri. Soutenue par un continuo diligent, et un timbre de voix aussi charnel que voluptueux, la mezzo-soprano Sophie Rennert incarne une Marie d’une poignante crédibilité.

Andreas Böhlen is a unique artist, with a very wide palette of colours, a highly personal approach, great alto sound, a compact quartet, full of surprises, well beyond any style. - Jorge Rossy, 2012The album Cruise, jazz saxophonist Andreas Böhlen's debut album, offers an innovative blend of fiery grooves, modern-jazz-complexity and lyrical moments. Böhlen's compositions and improvisations are partly influenced by his background in classical early music, and yet they sit comfortably in the idiom of Modern Jazz. The end result is an absorbing and precise musical statement. Böhlen has accumulated an array of reviews and awards in both jazz and classical genres, including at the Vriendenkrans Concours Amsterdam, the Van Wassenaer Concours Den Haag, and in his period with the German youth big band Bujazzo. His agile band members, Sebastian Böhlen (git), Jakob Dreyer (b) und Severin Rauch (dr), have worked together with him for over ten years, and their experience shows in their seemingly telepathic communication between each other. Following tertiary studies in Cologne, Amsterdam, Bologna and Basel, Andreas has performed concerts and given workshops across the world in countries including Japan, the USA and Australia, as well as throughout Europe with such groups as this band.
