Luumu is the Finnish word for plum. It is also the name of young pianist, singer and songwriter Adina Friis` project. Her songs remind you of Nordic piano-jazz - her Danish origin might be a reason for that. However, they escape, diving into other worlds, where songs emerge from poems about ghosts, illusions and other mystic conditions. With her lyrical piano playing and her tender and frail but very individual voice, Adina leads the ship through unsailed waters.This constellation provides an aesthetic of its own, with long arches from simple folksong-like melodies to almost free parts. Each song on the Debut CD "The Eye of the Clown behind the Spyglass" sounds different and creates its own mood,although some complaisant melancholy undertone remains present throughout.
