"Lucy's Dance EP" - The new production of Rosset Meyer Geiger. Josquin Rosset (piano), Gabriel Meyer (bass) and Jan Geiger (drums) made a sensation with their 2010 debut album "what happened". In Japan, the work was awarded gold as the best jazz album of 2010. The international reviews, including New York's Cadence Jazz Magazine were full of praise. "One of the best jazz piano trios of our present time', according to All About Jazz Italia. "what happened" was Unit Record's Bestseller 2011 and had to be re-pressed twice. Since completing the recording of "what happened", the three musicians from St. Gallen are now working on their next album, which will commence recording in Spring 2012 and will be released by the end of that year. In the meantime however, the trio have been working on a completely different project, the EP "Lucy's Dance", in cooperation with various international artists of electronic, Drum'n'Bass-, Jazz-Lounge- and Groovescene. In the Spring of 2011 a one-off, dance track, groovy boogaloo jazz piece was recorded by the original acoustic trio and passed on to N.O.H.A., Matthew Herbert, D-Kafi, J.M.G. and DePhazz for free processing. Five remixes resulted, which so differ in nature from each other that each single piece is completely individual. True to their creativity and without any restrictions, the artists were free to take the original composition, rearrange it, enhance it, slim it down, fill it out; so to make it completely new. N.O.H.A. from Cologne edited the piece to a club drum'n'bass tune, which with it's deep bass and heavy beat gets many dancers up on the floor. Londoner Matthew Herbert remains true to his principles and exclusively uses the original material which he has digitally processed to create a whole new sound. The St. Gallen Jazz pianist and experimental electronic artist Kafi-D transforms the original four quarters groove into a seven-eighths with extended drum solo, while J.M.G. presents an incredible driving beat in House-style.The crowning finale is the loungy remix by DePhazz that comes closest to the original in its formulation, although it is recognisable as pure DePhazz even from the first few tones.Lucy's Dance EP - an incredibly versatile medley of different styles held together and inspired by the original trio Rosset Meyer Geiger.
