They make for a weird musical couple - Jürg Schneebeli from Zurich and Ray Anderson from New York. While exceptionalmusical talent Anderson has a taste for the unconventional and the experimental, jazz pianist Schneebeli is grounded in Bluesand Straight Ahead Jazz. But what seems at first glance like a contradiction of sorts gains a new and wonderful life on the newCD of Schneebeli´s band "Schneekoenig." Ray Anderson, one of today´s most influential jazz trombonists, remains true to hismusical self, yet sounds here like he has seldom been heard. This is the fourth album of long-term project "Schneekoenig", andtheir second collaboration with Ray Anderson. Jürg Schneebeli continues to develop his unique style: from influences of funkand fusion in the early days, via break beats and house grooves later on, and now into soul jazz. The new album is called "impossible",to which Schneebeli notes: "In jazz, you often take chances with things that you´re not sure are possible in thebeginning - but this can create surprising and `im-possible´ moments. It all starts to makes sense, and `impossible´ becomes`possible´.
