The German "Liedermacher" is a tricky one because many many, oh too many artists figure that it is enough to write somepseudo-lyrical texts and pluck at their guitar until they run out of words to rhyme. So, the joy to find someone like Jan Frischcannot be described. His debut is no easy but (because of that) a great listen, because he balances little experiments insinging, instrumentals and lyrics with incredibly gorgeous melodies and themes that for once don´t feel as navel-gazing asmany songwriters prefer them to be. No, Frisch is an impressionist who collects conversations and puts them together so wecan experience them like little plays in his music but still have a lot of room to add our own experiences.
