Of the four works featured on this record, composed from 1998 to 2015, Plurimo is offered as an explicit homage to the painter Emilio Vedova, a constant living presence in the composer’s emotional and cognitive world because of their natural affinities. In Tocar, but also in Morte di Caravaggio and in his transcriptions for orchestra of the two Canzoni and a Sonata by Giovanni Gabrieli (1557-1612), the greatest composer of the Venetian Renaissance, there are several episodes of refraction between image and sound, between the being of what is painted and the unfolding of the score. After studying at Venice Conservatory, Claudio ambrosini graduated at Venice (Music) and Milan (Linguistics) Universites. In Venice, he also enjoyed significant encounters with Bruno Maderna and especially Luigi Nono, who included him among his favourite composers. Ambrosini has composed vocal, instrumental, electronic works, oratorios, operas and ballets, all characterized by an extensive instrumental research. He has received various prizes and has been invited to international festivals as the Contemporary Music Festival of the Biennale di Venezia, Strasbourg, Brussels, Huddersfield, Avignon, Helsinki, Stockholm, Vancouver, Montreal, New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Viitasaari, Sydney.
