Among the many recordings of The Matthew Passion two have always stood out for their historical importance and for their diffusion: one conduced by Otto Klemperer for EMI and the other one donduced by Eugen Jochum for Phil i ps. We are proposing now the second of them, recorded in Amsterdam in 1965 with an extraordinary voice cast. O bviouslyIt is not a philological version, but i t i s complete i n a l l i ts parts and it has a fabulous sound. The Bach by Jochum (such as Klemperer and Furtwaengler) is vast, but not romantic: on the contrary, he puts the Passion under a light of sweetness and sorrowful, without the harshness and coldness typical of the recent interpretations. We also added as " Extra" in the third CD, the Te Deum by Bruckner, recorded in Monaco of Bavaria in 1954 by the same Jochum, in the beautiful Decca recording for many years out of the market
